Katie Rico Yoga
Looking for a yoga class that helps you feel grounded, calm, and relaxed? Whether your back aches, your neck is stiff, or your mind feels overwhelmed by life, this class is designed for you.
New to yoga? Not flexible? No problem.
My classes create a welcoming, supportive space where movement is enjoyable for all levels—especially beginners. The energy is uplifting, the community is warm, and the teacher brings a sense of fun without taking herself too seriously. You’ll leave feeling more alive in your body and, just as importantly, quieter and more focused in your mind.
What style do you teach?
My classes are mainly Hatha which is a gentle yet powerful style of yoga mainly suitable for beginners. It focuses on balancing the body and mind through physical movement and postures while also incorporating breath techniques and mindfulness. Rooted in ancient tradition, it offers a practical and accessible approach to improving flexibility, strength and inner calm. One of the greatest benefits of Hatha yoga is its accessibility to all, making it an ideal starting point for beginners while still offering depth for more experienced practitioners. Regular practice, either in classes or at home (or both) can reduce stress, improve posture, boost energy and support overall well-being. My classes are never the same, I teach to the energy in the room on the day by judgement.
Katie Rico Yoga
Hi, I’m Katie Richardson – mum to two young girls, a moon-lover, avid hiker, travel enthusiast and Libra always on quest for balance and inner peace amongst the chaos of mum life.
I was born in Rochdale and have spent most of my life within half a mile of Healey Corner. Though I’ve been lucky enough to travel extensively, and – like many – have moments when I wonder why I’m still here, my roots run deep in this town and its people.
My yoga journey began 15 years ago, during a time when work stress had taken its toll and a doctor suggested beta blockers. Instead, a friend pointed me towards yoga. I went to a class, laughed through it, went back, laughed some more – but something kept drawing me in. Every time I walked out of class, the world felt lighter, and my mind clearer. I was hooked.
When COVID hit, I was pregnant and lost my job in the travel industry. It felt like the universe was nudging me – so I took the leap and began my yoga teacher training, with my youngest still in nappies. It wasn’t easy, but it’s been one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve ever made. I’ve met the most wonderful people and built a beautiful community of like-minded souls, right on my doorstep.
Yoga has changed my life in ways I never expected – not just on the mat, but in how I live, connect, and show up in the world. It’s not just a practice; it’s a way of life.

Katie has really helped me start my yoga journey. I had been wanting to do it for a while and I can honestly say she has made it so enjoyable. You can ask her for help if needed and she will always make you feel comfortable. She goes that extra mile to make sure everyone is happy no matter what level of experience you may have. I look forward to it each week.

Amazing yoga teacher. So friendly and down to earth. Great at helping adjust positions and giving advice. Please note this is not a serious class for boring people, Katie brings the fun to yoga with tons of personality. The relaxation at the end is something else too!
